How do I get my business online in Zimbabwe, step by step?

Register a domain, choose hosting or a designed website, set up email on your domain, build the site and switch on the padlock. With Tremhost all of it sits on one account, paid in US dollars by EcoCash, InnBucks, ZimSwitch, Omari, card or crypto, with hosting from $30 a year.

  1. Choose and register your domain. A .co.zw shows customers you are local; add a .com if you sell abroad (.co.zw or .com?). Search on Domains and register it in your business's name. A .co.zw is $6.99 a year, needs only the owner's accurate name, address, email address and phone number, and is usually registered within 1–2 hours in office hours (how).
  2. Decide who builds the website. If you or someone on your team will build it, order web hosting. If you want it designed and kept up to date for you, choose website design, which includes hosting and email.
  3. Order and pay. Hosting is ready as soon as your payment goes through. Your welcome email has your cPanel login and nameservers.
  4. Create email addresses on your domain. Every web hosting plan includes unlimited mailboxes: see How do I create an email address? Then add them to staff phones (guide).
  5. Build the site. Install WordPress in one click (guide), try the AI Website Builder included with hosting, or upload a site you already have. Five pages are enough to start: home, about, products or services, FAQs and contact.
  6. Get the padlock. Free SSL installs itself once your domain points to us (check it here).
  7. Help people find you. Create a free Google Business Profile with the same name, address and phone number as your website, and add the site to Google Search Console.
  8. Keep it safe. We back up hosting daily, but download your own copy before big changes (guide). Add Armor Guard once the site brings in enquiries.

Tip: Put your WhatsApp number on every page. Many customers would rather send a message than fill in a form.

Do I need a website, or is email enough to start?
Email on your own domain is the quickest win: a quote from [email protected] looks more credible than one from a Gmail address. If you'll want a website within the year, Bvumba hosting includes unlimited email for $50 a year and may be the better buy.
I already have a site with another host.
We move cPanel sites free with any hosting plan: see Can you move my website?
