How it works
Four steps. You are involved in two of them: sending the details and saying "go" for the switch-over.
Send the details
Your current host's cPanel login, or a full backup file. For email, a list of mailboxes. We confirm what we found and give you a date.
We copy everything
Files, databases, mailboxes, DNS records, SSL. Nothing is changed at your current host.
You check the copy
We send a temporary address where the site runs on Tremhost. You click through it; we fix anything that differs.
Switch over, once it works
We change DNS at a time you choose. Mail keeps arriving on both sides during propagation, so nothing is lost.
How long it takes
Times run from when we have working access to your current host. They are what we plan to, not legal commitments; the commitments are in our SLA.

What stays the same
A move should be invisible to your visitors and your staff.
Your domain
Keep it where it is or transfer it to us later. We only change the DNS records, and only when you say.
Your email addresses
Same addresses, same passwords if you want. Phones and Outlook need the new server name, which we send you.
Your URLs
Page addresses do not change, so search rankings and links keep working.
Your old host
We never cancel it for you. Cancel it yourself once you are happy, usually after a week.

Will my website go offline during the move?
No. We copy the site while the original keeps running, test the copy, and only then change DNS. Visitors reach the old server until the new one is confirmed working, and the new one after.
What do you need from me?
Your current host's cPanel login (or a full cPanel backup), and for email, the list of mailboxes. If you do not have cPanel access, tell us what you do have and we will say what we can do with it.
Is migration really free?
cPanel-to-cPanel moves are free with any hosting plan, however many sites or mailboxes. Moves from Plesk, DirectAdmin, custom stacks or site builders are possible but quoted first, because they take hands-on work.
How long does it take?
A single cPanel site is usually done within 24 hours of receiving working access. Larger moves take one to three working days. Managed VPS servers are built in about three hours; dedicated servers within 72 hours; the move follows.
Will I lose any email?
No. Mailboxes are copied by IMAP, and during the DNS change mail is accepted on both the old and new server, so nothing is dropped. You will need to update the server name on phones and Outlook; we send the settings.
Can you move my site to a VPS or dedicated server?
Yes. We build the server first (cPanel, CloudLinux, Imunify360 and LiteSpeed on managed VPS) and then move your sites onto it. The timings above apply.
Do I have to cancel my old host first?
No, and please do not. Keep it until the move is confirmed, then cancel it yourself. We never cancel accounts at another provider on your behalf.
What if the move fails?
Your old site is untouched, because we never change anything at your current host. We either fix the copy and try the switch again, or tell you plainly why it cannot be moved and refund any hosting you bought for it within the 30-day guarantee.
Can I keep my domain where it is?
Yes. We only need to update the DNS records, which we can do for you if you share the registrar login, or send you the records to paste in yourself.
