In cPanel, open Softaculous Apps Installer under Software, choose the app, click Install, fill in the domain and admin details, and click Install again. Softaculous creates the database for you and is included on every Tremhost web hosting plan.
- Log in to cPanel and, under Software, click Softaculous Apps Installer.
- Find the app with the search box, or browse the categories (blogs, forums, e-commerce and so on).
- Click the app, read the short overview and click Install.
- Under the installation address, choose https:// if your free SSL is active, then choose the domain.
- Check In Directory. Leave it empty to install at yourdomain.com, or type a folder name such as
forumto install at yourdomain.com/forum. - Fill in the site name, an admin username (not admin), a strong password and an email address you read.
- Open Advanced Options if you want Softaculous to take automatic backups or apply updates for you.
- Click Install. When it finishes you get the site link and the admin link. Save them.
Looking after your apps
Softaculous keeps a list of everything you installed: open it from the installations icon at the top of Softaculous. From there you can update, back up, clone or remove an app.
Remove apps from that list, not by deleting their files. Softaculous then deletes the app’s database too, instead of leaving it behind.
Tip: Install only into an empty folder. Installing into a folder that already holds a website can overwrite its files. Softaculous warns you first, so read the warning.
- The install failed with a database error.
- Each app uses one MySQL database. Himalaya includes 3, Bvumba 5, Chimanimani 10 and Nyangani 50. Delete databases you no longer use under Databases → MySQL Databases, or upgrade your plan.
- My disk is filling up.
- Softaculous backups are stored in your account and count towards your space. Download the ones you want to keep and delete the rest (see What is using my disk space?).
