Use your full email address as the username and the server name shown on cPanel's Connect Devices page (often mail.yourdomain.com) for both incoming and outgoing mail. Use IMAP on port 993 and SMTP on port 465, both with SSL/TLS, with outgoing authentication switched on.
Find your exact settings
- Log in to cPanel and open Email → Email Accounts.
- Click Connect Devices next to the mailbox.
- Copy the server names and ports from the secure (SSL/TLS) settings section. The page also lists POP3, if you need it.
Typical secure settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Username | Your full email address, for example [email protected] |
| Password | The mailbox password (not your cPanel or client area password) |
| Incoming, IMAP | As shown in Connect Devices (often mail.yourdomain.com), port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Incoming, POP3 | Same server, with the POP3 port shown in Connect Devices, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing, SMTP | Same server, port 465, SSL/TLS, authentication on with the same username and password |
| Webmail | https://yourdomain.com/webmail (or https://yourdomain.com:2096) |
IMAP or POP3?
Choose IMAP. It keeps your mail on the server, so your phone, laptop and webmail all show the same inbox, and nothing is lost if a device breaks. POP3 downloads mail to one device and can remove it from the server; use it only if you deliberately want to keep mail on a single computer.
If Connect Devices shows a server name other than mail.yourdomain.com, use the name it shows. Copy it exactly to avoid certificate warnings.
Moving to Tremhost from another provider? Until your domain points to us, mail.yourdomain.com still reaches the old server. We send you the server name to use after the move.
