Only the domain owner's accurate details: their name, physical address, email address and phone number. No letter, ID copy or certificate is needed for a .co.zw, and you choose the nameservers when you order.
| We need | What to give |
|---|---|
| Owner's name | The person, business or organisation that owns the domain, as it should appear on the registration |
| Physical address | The owner's full street address, including the town |
| Email address | One the owner reads: notices about the domain go there |
| Phone number | One we can reach the owner on |
| Nameservers | Chosen when you order: ours if we host your site and email, or your other host's |
Enter the details during the order, or send them to us on WhatsApp (+263 73 563 9917) or in a support ticket. Once the order is paid and the details are complete, we usually register it within 1–2 hours in office hours.
Rules that still apply
- The real owner is the registrant. A web designer or consultant shouldn't register a client's domain in their own name. Schools, clubs and churches register in the organisation's own name.
- Well-known names need permission. To register a well-known company's or organisation's name, you need that company's authority. Zimbabwean place names are reserved for government authorities.
- You must mean to use it. .co.zw is administered by ZISPA, whose terms allow it to withdraw a domain left unused for 90 days or more.
Tip: Use an email address the organisation controls, such as info@ or admin@, not a staff member's personal one, so domain notices still arrive when people leave.
- Do I need a company registration certificate or ID copy?
- Not for a .co.zw. A .org.zw or .ac.zw is different: it needs a signed letter on the organisation's letterhead (other .zw domains).
- I don't live in Zimbabwe. Can I register one?
- Message us and we'll tell you whether we can register it for you.
- Can my web designer do it for me?
- They can place the order, but the domain must be registered in your name with your details: see Who owns a domain I register through Tremhost?
