How do I get my domain's EPP code to move it elsewhere?

For a .com, .org, .net or similar domain registered with Tremhost, sign in to the client area, open the domain under Domains, unlock it and request the EPP (transfer) code. A .co.zw domain has no EPP code: ask us in a ticket to release it to your new registrar.

.com, .org, .net and other generic domains

  1. Sign in to the client area and open Domains.
  2. Click the domain. Check it is active, not expired, and not about to expire.
  3. If the domain’s page shows a registrar lock (also called transfer lock), switch it off.
  4. In the domain’s menu, choose the option to get the EPP code. Depending on the extension, the code is shown on screen or emailed to the domain owner’s address.
  5. Enter the code when you order the transfer at your new registrar, and approve any confirmation email that arrives.

Can’t see the lock or EPP option? Open a ticket from the account that holds the domain and ask for the code.

.co.zw domains

.co.zw domains don’t use an EPP code. To move one away, we release it to your new registrar once you, as the registered owner, confirm the move. Open a ticket naming the domain and the registrar you are moving to, and we’ll tell you what we need; ask us about any cost before you start. No letter or ID copy is needed for a .co.zw. If the owner is changing at the same time, we also need the new owner’s name, address, email address and phone number.

Before you start

  • Generic domains usually can’t be transferred within 60 days of being registered, transferred or changing owner.
  • An expired domain normally has to be renewed before it can move.
  • Check the owner email on the domain is one you can read: codes and approval requests go there.
  • A transfer moves the registration, not your website or email. If the nameservers stay the same, nothing goes offline.

Treat the EPP code like a password. Anyone who has it can ask to move your domain, so give it only to the registrar you are moving to.
