Your website stops loading at that address and email sent to the domain bounces. Renew it straight away: after any grace period, someone else can register the name. Our store lists a 30-day grace period for .com, .net and .org, and none for .co.zw.
What happens, and when
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Before the expiry date | We email renewal reminders and a renewal invoice to the address on your account. |
| On the expiry date | The website stops loading at the domain, and email sent to it bounces. Your hosting and mailboxes are separate services and aren't removed because the domain expired. |
| Grace period | Our store lists 30 days for .com, .net and .org, during which you can still renew. Some extensions charge extra for a late renewal. |
| After the grace period | The name can be released and registered by anyone. |
| .co.zw | No grace period is listed, so treat the expiry date as the deadline. |
Renew an expired domain
- Sign in to the client area and open Billing → My Invoices.
- Pay the unpaid renewal invoice for the domain.
- If there's no invoice, or it's a .co.zw past its expiry date, message billing on WhatsApp +263 78 596 0376 with the domain name straight away.
- Once the renewal goes through, the website and email come back. Some networks take a few hours to catch up (why).
Tip: Turn on Auto Renew under Domains and keep funds in your account, so a missed email or an expired card never takes your site down.
- My old web designer registered the domain.
- It has to be renewed through whoever holds the registration. If it's in your name, you can insist on it; see Who owns a domain I register through Tremhost?
- The grace period has passed.
- See Can I get an expired domain back?
Still stuck? open a support ticket with the domain name, or message billing on WhatsApp.
