The firewall blocked my IP address. What do I do?

Find your public IP address, fix whatever kept sending a wrong password from your network, then send us the IP in a support ticket or on WhatsApp so we can lift the block. If the old password is still saved on a device, the firewall will block you again.

Signs your IP address is blocked

  • Your website, cPanel, webmail or email stop working from the office, but work on your phone over mobile data.
  • Pages time out or show “This site can’t be reached”, but only on one network.
  • Your browser shows a page asking you to prove you are not a robot before it lets you in.
  1. Confirm it’s a block. Turn Wi-Fi off on your phone and open your site over mobile data. If it loads there but not on the office Wi-Fi, the office’s IP address is probably blocked.
  2. Find your public IP. On the blocked network, search Google for what is my IP and write down the address it shows.
  3. Find the cause. Blocks usually follow repeated failed logins: a phone or Outlook still using an email password that was changed, a wrong password saved in an FTP program, or several failed cPanel or WordPress logins. Update or remove the old password on every device on that network.
  4. Ask us to unblock it. Open a support ticket or message us on WhatsApp with the IP address, your domain and what you were doing when it stopped. If the client area won’t load on the blocked network, use mobile data.
  5. Test again once we confirm the block is lifted.

Everyone in an office usually shares one public IP address. One phone with an old email password can lock out the whole office, so check every device, not just yours.

On your own server

Managed cPanel VPS and dedicated servers run Imunify360. In WHM, blocks are usually under Plugins → Imunify360 → Firewall, and cPanel’s own login protection is under Security Center → cPHulk Brute Force Protection. If you aren’t sure what to change, ask us. On an unmanaged KVM VPS the firewall is yours: if you have locked yourself out of SSH, open the VNC console in the VPS control panel and fix the rule from there.

Why did it work on mobile data?
Your phone gets a different public IP address on mobile data, and that address isn’t blocked.
Can you allow my office IP permanently?
Ask us in a ticket. Unless your internet connection has a fixed (static) IP address, the address can change, so a permanent entry may not stay useful.
