How do I add a TXT record to verify my domain?

Copy the TXT value the service gives you, then add it in cPanel under Domains → Zone Editor → Manage, using Add Record with the type TXT. Save it, wait a few minutes, then click verify in the service.

  1. In the service you're verifying for, copy the TXT value exactly. Note the name (or host) it goes on: usually @ or blank for the main domain, or something like _dmarc.
  2. Log in to cPanel (guide) and open Domains → Zone Editor.
  3. Click Manage next to the domain.
  4. Click + Add Record and choose TXT as the type.
  5. In Name, enter your domain for @ (for example yourdomain.com.), or the host the service gave you, such as _dmarc. cPanel adds your domain to the end.
  6. Paste the value into Record. You don't need to add quote marks.
  7. Save the record, then go back to the service and click verify.

Common TXT records

Used forNameValue starts with
Google verificationyourdomain.com.google-site-verification=
Microsoft 365 verificationyourdomain.com.MS=
SPFyourdomain.com.v=spf1
DMARC_dmarc.yourdomain.com.v=DMARC1

Tip: A domain can have many TXT records but only one SPF record. If one starting with v=spf1 already exists, edit it to add the new include: rather than adding a second.

Check it's live

Look the record up with Google's Dig tool: choose TXT and enter your domain. If the value shows there, the service can find it too. If verification still fails, wait an hour and try again.

My domain doesn't use Tremhost nameservers.
Add the record wherever the nameservers point, such as your registrar or Cloudflare. Changes in cPanel won't have any effect.
My domain is with Tremhost, but I have no hosting.
Send us the record in a ticket and we'll add it.

Still stuck? open a support ticket with the domain and the exact value you were given.
