A reseller hosting side hustle works if you already build websites, design or do digital marketing: you rent a white-label reseller plan, give each client their own cPanel account under your brand, and charge a monthly or yearly fee that covers the plan, your time and a margin. Start-up costs are low, but the profit depends on how many clients you sign and how much support you are willing to give. Choose a provider on white label, account limits, billing tools, renewal price and support, not on promises of easy income.
This is Tremhost’s own blog, and Tremhost is one of the providers listed.
How does a reseller hosting side hustle work?
A reseller plan gives you WHM, the administration panel for a cPanel server. In WHM you create hosting packages, set their limits and open a separate cPanel account for each client. The provider runs the server, its security and its updates; you handle sales, billing and first-line support. For the basics, see what is reseller hosting.
It suits people who already have clients for something else, such as web design, social media management or IT support. Selling hosting to strangers from scratch is harder, because you compete with large hosts on price. Selling it to clients who already trust you, as part of a website or care package, is where most small resellers earn.
What makes reseller hosting good for a side hustle?
Low, predictable cost
What to check: the monthly price for the term you will pay, the renewal price and the refund period. Why: a side hustle needs low fixed costs. A plan that renews at a much higher price can wipe out your margin in year two.
True white label
What to check: private nameservers on your own domain, a control panel that shows your brand, and no supplier name visible to clients. Why: clients who can see your supplier may go to them directly.
Account limits that fit your plans
What to check: whether the number of cPanel accounts is capped, as well as total storage and bandwidth. Why: small business sites use little space, so an account cap is often the first limit you reach.
Billing tools
What to check: whether WHMCS or similar billing software is included, on which plans, or what it costs. Why: manual invoicing is fine for five clients and painful for fifty. Automation also suspends unpaid accounts for you.
One-click installs and security
What to check: a one-click installer such as Softaculous, free SSL for every client domain, malware scanning and account isolation. Why: these cut your set-up time and the number of support calls you receive.
Support for you
What to check: support channels, hours and time zone. Why: your clients call you, and you need answers when the problem is at server level.
What could you earn? A worked example
Suppose you host 15 small business clients at $8 a month each, using about 2 GB of storage each:
- Revenue: 15 x $8 = $120 a month.
- Storage needed: about 30 GB, so a plan with 50 GB gives headroom. On Tremhost’s published prices, Reseller 3 (50 GB NVMe, 500 GB bandwidth) is $10 a month.
- Left after the plan: $110 a month, before your time, any billing software, payment fees and tax.
This is an illustration, not a forecast. Your real margin depends on what clients will pay, how much support they need and how many leave. Price your time honestly: if each client needs an hour of help a month, that hour is part of the cost.
A shortlist to compare (alphabetical)
This is not a ranking. Facts for other providers come from their own pages; check them again before you buy.
InMotion Hosting
InMotion’s reseller hosting page, as listed on 5 November 2026, shows plans allowing 25 to 100 cPanel accounts with 80 GB to 300 GB of storage, a WHMCS Starter licence for up to 250 clients included, and white label with custom nameservers. Prices depend on the term and renew higher; for example, R-1000N is listed as renewing at $35.99 a month.
Namecheap
Namecheap’s reseller package comparison, as listed on 5 November 2026, shows Nebula (25 cPanel accounts, 30 GB), Galaxy Expert (100 accounts, 90 GB) and Universe Pro (150 accounts, 150 GB), with WHMCS licensed separately from $8 a month. Check Namecheap’s hosting pages for current plan prices.
Tremhost
Tremhost’s reseller hosting has nine plans from $7 to $60 a month, all with unlimited cPanel accounts, WHM, white label, LiteSpeed, CloudLinux, Imunify360, NVMe storage, free SSL, and Softaculous and SitePad for one-click installs and a drag-and-drop site builder. Reseller 1 is $7 a month (25 GB NVMe, 250 GB bandwidth) and Reseller 4 is $12 a month or $108 a year (60 GB, 800 GB). According to the reseller page, WHMCS is included free from Reseller 6 ($25 a month) and is a paid add-on on smaller plans; a WHMCS licence is also listed at $50 once off on the Tremhost licences page. Plans renew at the sign-up price, and the first reseller order has a 30-day refund.
Payment is in US dollars by EcoCash, InnBucks, ZimSwitch, Omari, Visa, Mastercard, Bitcoin, Tron or Litecoin. Hosting carries a 99.9% monthly availability target in the Tremhost SLA, and support is by ticket, WhatsApp or booked call, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 CAT, not 24/7, so plan how you will handle client issues outside those hours.
Which route suits you?
- You only host your own two or three sites: you do not need a reseller plan; ordinary web hosting is cheaper.
- You have a handful of design clients: start on a small plan, invoice manually, and upgrade when you need more storage.
- You expect dozens of clients: choose a plan with billing automation included, or budget for it.
- Your clients pay by mobile money in Zimbabwe: choose a supplier you can pay the same way, so currency and card problems do not eat your margin.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need technical skills to resell hosting?
You need to be comfortable with cPanel, DNS, email setup and WordPress basics. The provider manages the server, but clients will ask you how to set up email on their phones or why a site is slow.
Can I move my existing clients onto a reseller plan?
Yes, if they are on cPanel. Tremhost offers free cPanel migration, typically within 24 hours, with sites live until the switch.
Will clients know who the real host is?
Not with a white-label plan and private nameservers on your own domain. Your clients see your brand in their control panel.
