Tremhost vs Bluehost: What to Compare Before You Choose

Nine points to compare when choosing between Tremhost and Bluehost, with Tremhost's verified answers and what to check on Bluehost's site.

If you are weighing Tremhost against Bluehost, compare the two on the same points: what you will pay at renewal, how you can pay, what the WordPress plan actually manages for you, backups and malware handling, server location, the uptime commitment in writing, support hours and migration. This guide sets out those points with Tremhost’s verified answers and tells you what to look up on Bluehost’s own site. It does not declare a winner.

A note on fairness: Tremhost publishes this guide, so we are not neutral. We do not quote Bluehost’s prices, features, uptime or support hours, because they change and vary by country and promotion. Check Bluehost’s current pricing, terms and support pages on the day you compare, and note the date.

The two providers in brief

  • Bluehost is an international hosting company that sells shared hosting, WordPress hosting, domains and other services to customers worldwide.
  • Tremhost is a hosting and cybersecurity company founded in Harare in 2016, with more than 13,000 domains on its infrastructure. It sells cPanel hosting, managed WordPress, business email, domains, VPS, reseller hosting and Cloudflare-based security, priced in US dollars.

Nine points to compare

1. Three-year cost, including renewal

Write down the price for the term you will choose, the renewal price and the cost of extras such as email, SSL, backups and domain renewal. Add up three years.

Tremhost: no introductory pricing; plans renew at the sign-up price. cPanel hosting runs from $30 a year; managed WordPress from $15 a month or $175 a year.

Check on Bluehost: the renewal price, the term needed for the advertised price and which features are paid add-ons.

2. What “WordPress hosting” includes

The label means different things at different hosts. Ask who updates WordPress core, themes and plugins, whether updates are tested first, and who removes malware.

Tremhost managed WordPress: updates tested on staging, daily backups, malware scanning and removal, and Cloudflare Pro on every site. Micro is $15 a month (1 site, 20 GB NVMe); Business is $20 a month (2 sites, 50 GB NVMe); Professional is $30 a month.

Check: which of these tasks the plan covers and which are left to you.

3. Backups and recovery

Tremhost: daily backups on hosting and managed WordPress, and Armor SOS free same-day triage for hacked sites.

Check: backup frequency, retention, whether restores are self-service and whether they cost extra.

4. How you can pay

Tremhost: US dollars by EcoCash, InnBucks, ZimSwitch, Omari, Visa, Mastercard, Bitcoin, Tron or Litecoin.

Check: which methods work from your country. A declined card at renewal can take a site offline.

5. Server location

Tremhost: shared hosting runs on servers in Europe and the USA; VPS plans can be deployed in Johannesburg, New York, Miami, Limburg or Roubaix. Cloudflare, which Tremhost partners with, has a data centre in Harare.

Check: where your plan will be hosted.

6. Uptime commitment

Tremhost: a 99.9% monthly availability target for hosting, email and servers in its service level agreement.

Check: whether a written SLA exists and how credits are claimed.

7. Support you can reach

Tremhost: tickets, WhatsApp on +263 73 563 9917 and booked calls, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 CAT.

Check: the channels and hours available in your country and time zone.

8. Migration

Tremhost: free cPanel-to-cPanel migration, typically within 24 hours, with the site live until you switch. Managed WordPress includes free migration.

Check: whether moving an existing site is free, paid or do-it-yourself.

9. Refunds

Tremhost: 30 days on the first order for web hosting, managed WordPress, business email and reseller hosting. Domains are not refundable.

Check: the refund window and exclusions.

Points that are easy to miss

  • Email: check how many mailboxes are included and whether spam filtering and SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup are part of the plan. Tremhost’s cPanel hosting includes unlimited mailboxes; separate business email starts at $5 a month for 50 mailboxes.
  • Number of sites: some WordPress plans allow one site, others several. Tremhost Micro covers one site, Business two, and Professional works out at $7.50 per site.
  • Storage type: NVMe is faster than older SATA drives for database-heavy WordPress sites. Tremhost plans use NVMe.
  • Security add-ons: find out whether a CDN and web application firewall are included or sold separately.
  • Who owns the domain: make sure it is registered in your name, wherever you host.

How to make the decision

  1. Put the nine points in a table, one column per provider.
  2. Fill each cell from the provider’s own website, noting the date.
  3. Remove any option you cannot pay reliably or whose support hours do not overlap with yours.
  4. Compare three-year cost against what is managed for you.
  5. Use the refund period to test your shortlist with your own site.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this guide not give Bluehost’s prices?

They change often and differ by country and promotion. Their current pricing page is the only reliable source.

Can I move a WordPress site from Bluehost to Tremhost?

Yes. Tremhost migrates WordPress and cPanel sites free. Keep your domain registered in your own name so you control it.

Do I need managed WordPress or ordinary hosting?

If you are comfortable updating WordPress and plugins yourself, cPanel hosting is cheaper. If you want updates, malware removal and Cloudflare Pro handled for you, choose managed WordPress.
